The Electromagnetic Induction Apparatus with Magnet features a single turn of thick wire manually rotated around a sturdy magnet rod. This device explores the concept of a conductor intersecting magnetic flux at a fundamental level and also includes a "mystery" presented for instructional use.
The apparatus utilizes a metal conductor, mounted between two bearings, to rotate like a single blade of a paddle-wheel. A slim cylindrical permanent magnet is horizontally supported by sliding it through the bore of one bearing. The magnet's length is parallel to the conductor, with its tip positioned halfway along the conductor's length. By passing through a single turn, the magnetic field is cut which generates a minute voltage that can be easily detected with a highly sensitive meter.
