The Mass of Electron Apparatus with Tube Without Solenoid is commonly utilized in physics experiments for calculating the mass of electrons. This enables students and researchers to conduct experiments related to electron physics and fundamental particle properties.
This apparatus includes a 'Magic Eye' tube, with mounting on a base and terminals for heater and plate voltages. The end of the tube allows for the observation of a fan of electrons. When an Air Cored Solenoid is placed over the tube and a current is passed through it, the fan curves due to the field at the center of the solenoid. This distortion can be measured to estimate the mass of an electron.
